Designer babies, the end of diseases, genetically modified humans that never age. Outrageous things that used to be science fiction are suddenly becoming reality. The only thing we know for sure is that things will change irreversibly.
Well, if we don’t immolate ourselves first, some interesting things await for us in the future. :)

And what, ten billion humans consuming what’s left of the earth? Twenty billion? Two hundred billion?
Our fear of death will be the death of us all. It’s already killing off everybody else.

Miep took the words out of my mouth. This tech is great, awesome, brilliant… But could someone show me the other planets we’re going to settle.

Modernized, legalized eugenics…that’s all that “designer babies” represent to me. Especially when you read up on who is allowed to donate their eggs, and who are the biggest purchasers of same.
And so it goes…

Well we certainly cannot have more undesirables running about can we? :(
The potential for mismanagement is quite high for this particular technology, given the social and cultural deficits we face in society.

…especially when it is the “deplorables” who can most afford the technology, whilst they complain about the fecundity and (supposed lack of parental skills) of the undesirable “others.”
