It is my hope that more and more of us, who call ourselves Christians, will act that way. Christians, of all people, should know better that they are called to unconditional love every person.
When one of my 20 years’ old youth (who is agnostic), I being a youth pastor, came out, I stood next to him in the Church. It happened that I was teaching John 3. I commended the Church to love my youth more and care for him as we stand together by and with him. He living with his 44 boyfriend and was in church yesterday.
The Church motto on homosexuality, abortion and other ethical issues is that “when love comes first, disagreements follow in right and proper place”.
It is in the context of deep love, gentleness, sensitivity and care can we discuss our positions on these issues.
I am also sorry that we Christians have fail, and many are still failing, to see that homosexuals are, according to what Christians believe, created in image of God by God, for God and to God.

I’m sorry Bleat, the link to the time-vortex was there only for the sake of veracity and honesty. :)
On the other hand, it’s a neat site no?
I’ve never though of myself as an enabler, I wonder if I can work that into my coat-of-arms somehow.

I like the message and the outcome, but the skeptic in me wonders whether this was actually staged by non-Christians to make a point? ;)

Yes, it’s good. They’re apologizing to people harmed by Christianity. What they are not doing is calling Christian bigots on the carpet. I’ll be happy when that happens.

There is that possibility, although I’d like to think that it was a genuine moment. With the net, there is always room for fakery.

Agreed, although it is a good first step no, if indeed it is authentic.

If only this could happen more often; I note with dismay that the Christians seem to cherry pick their own book. I recall seeing a very strong section on “not judging, lest ye BE judged”….after all, their Big Guy is jealous of his prerogatives!

It’s a big book of poop for the most part. That they manage to do anything nice is always a surprise for me.

This is why I find it far more fruitful to contemplate the old Hellenic idea of personal excellence and honor. One performs better if trying for status instead of hiding from vengeful god(s)!

The Arbourist,
The whole point of being a Christian is to follow the Bible. Each group within Christianity follows their own interpretation. Since you condemn the Bible “for the most part” there is no way that people who agree with you can be called Christians. If they do agree they logically must be other. Being other they can’t apologize on behalf of believers.
syrbal,
If you only believe in your own honor you put that honor at greater risk than when you know you are accountable to somebody the second you leave this World.

A bit too late for all the gays who were abandoned, killed or beaten up, or whose life was ruined by the State, and it doesn’t excuse all the Christian churches who still preach against homosexuality…
Christianity is a disease.

Maybe since they all know that they are going to be judged on, well, judgment day, that some of them figure that this is actually a commandment to judge others. It makes sense when you think of it like that.

Mr.Scott, I fear that you have ascribed to me way too much power. If I can can agree with a Christian, it means they are not christian…I… I… have the power of Mass Deconversion!! I just need a sound effect and a tag line and I will be soooo all over this.

The Arbourist,
To quote our great President ” let me be clear “. I have a hard time believing that those happy people in the picture with the black shirts and the white signs are who you say they are.
