Really? That’s it? That’s pretty weak sauce. Releasing an open secret is what they lead with? What’s next, letting the Canadian public know what he had for supper last week?

Well, maybe Canadian Anonymous faction are more polite and are saving the devastating goods for later? :)

I think it’s a smart move myself. The delicate game of negotiation! If they push or strike too hard in the beginning, it’s too easy to get them dismissed as criminals in the court of public opinion. This way, they’re trying to show that they’re taking a strong but fair position, and that any further move by the other side will warrant a response, so as not to appear as the aggressor. It also plays to fear of the unknown – what cards do they show next?
If played right and done “legally” (i.e. in that grey area that PI’s work in), information groups like this could become the new press who have basically all succumbed to corporate interests. This is interesting to watch.

Interesting viewpoint Vern. I will reconsider my position on what Anon is doing here and reserve judgement until I see what they do in the future. If they can fill a void that the media is missing, then I support that.

Thanks, Bleat. I didn’t mention, however, that I agree with you – I was saying, “That’s all?! How boring!” after I heard it. Suppose it wasn’t really there for my entertainment, though.
Re: filling the void, I’m hoping more “citizen journalism” fills the gap, and starts to take money and interest away from journalists putting the pressure back on the majority of them to be investigative again and use that thing called “freedom of the press”. It was supposed to mean not just freedom from government propaganda, but freedom from corporate influence as well.
My Anon position isn’t fully decided upon yet, for the same reasons I suppose as yours. Whistleblowing’s one thing, informational terrorism and extortion is another.
